  • Arrhythmias

  • Arthritis, both rheumatoid and osteoarthritis

In addition to the above conditions, the expertise of Dr. Nigh and/or Maria are especially sought out by patients around the world for the treatment of a few specific diseases and conditions:

Dr. Nigh has developed one of the most aggressive and comprehensive cancer treatment programs available in the United States. Working in collaboration with Maria, Dr. Nigh creates individualized treatment programs for all types and stages of cancer. Many patients are concurrently pursuing conventional therapies, in which case a primary focus is to enhance the efficacy of those therapies while minimizing their side effects. Other patients, though, are pursuing alternative therapies only, in which case the program is intensive and may bring in a wide range of modalities that he has at his disposal in the clinic.

Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)

Dr. Nigh and Maria are now independently recognized as experts in the treatment of SIBO. Their unique approach to this difficult-to-eradicate condition does not include conventional antibiotics, but instead focuses on sulfur digestion and metabolism. This is a tragically under-recognized metabolic issue that can result in SIBO recurrence even after "successful" treatment with standard treatment protocols. Dr. Nigh brings in his knowledge of genetic polymorphisms that can predispose to these ongoing imbalances, while Maria helps patients navigate our Low Sulfur Protocol with individualized adjustments and recommendations. Dr. Nigh was recently a featured expert on SIBO, part of the SIBO SOS Summit. You can find the interviews with him and many others here. Maria will be interviewed for the 3rd SIBO Summit coming up in the Spring of 2018. Dr. Nigh was also interviewed for The SIBO Doctor podcast.

Chronic Fatigue

Fatigue can arise from any number of different metabolic issues. The key to successful treatment of chronic fatigue is a thorough assessment of underlying issues that may be contributing. This can involve environmental toxicity testing, metabolic testing, hormonal assessment. Therapies that have been most effective are IV therapy and ultraviolet blood irradiation (UVBI). UVBI in particular is in the category of biophotonic therapies, adding light energy to the blood in the form of photons that are stored within blood cells as released into circulation. UVBI is also antimicrobial, and important additional benefit since chronic fatigue patients often have one or more underlying infections.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn's, Ulcerative Colitis)

These devastating conditions have been remarkably responsive to the Low Sulfur Protocol developed by Dr. Nigh and Maria. In fact, hydrogen sulfide is produced in excess in both of these conditions, leading to chronic irritation of the lining of the gut. Combined with immune regulating therapies such as low dose naltrexone, IV glutathione and fermented wheat germ extract, these and other autoimmune conditions have often reduced in severity quite dramatically within just a few days of beginning therapy. Not all patients respond the same, but we've been amazed by how quickly symptoms resolve in many cases.

Alcoholism and other addictions have responded very well to a combination of therapies that include laser acupuncture, individualized dosing of the medication naltrexone, supplementation to support dopamine production, PEMF to balance the autonomic nervous system, and a supportive dietary program to add additional support to sympathetic/parasympathetic balance. When needed, IV therapy can be added to help curb cravings and to replete nutrients that are commonly depleted in the course of the addictive behavior.

 Severe Depression

Depression that is unresponsive to conventional medications will often respond to a combination of therapies that include the use of intravenous ketamine in combination with dietary and nutrient support of basic metabolic activities such as methylation and sulfation. Initial evaluation commonly includes a deep dive into genetic polymorphisms that may be driving the addictive urge, then a full treatment program is established to address both the genetic and the metabolic issues identified. And of course, no treatment of depression can exclude a thorough examination and discussion about thought patterns that can perpetuate the depressive state.
